Place the customer at ease by explaining the reason why you’re inquiring about potential drivers. Customers can get defensive if they don’t understand our motive. Take the time to explain, assertiveness and eye contact will help to reassure them we’re only trying to look after their best interest.
Script: “We have a few questions about possible additional drivers. These questions are important because we want to be sure you & your vehicles are protected with the right coverage.”
Question #1
Mr./Mrs. Insured, do you have a son or daughter?
Mr./Mrs.
Reason: No matter if the son or daughter lives in or outside of the house, they need to be listed or excluded from the policy.
Note to Agent: Son and daughters need to be listed or excluded from the policy. Also note that Pronto cannot bind coverage for any driver between the ages of twelve and eighteen who do not have a current, valid driver’s license. They must be excluded from the policy.
Question #2:
Mr./Mrs. Insured, besides your spouse, son, or daughter, is there anyone else, for example: friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, grandparent, in-law, roommate, etc., who has access to your car whether they live in your house or not?
Mr./Mrs.
Reason: If they are driving your car, we need to include them so they are covered under the policy. If they are not driving your car, we need to exclude them to give you the best rate.
The script will be noted for you to read to the customer
Thank The Customer: Thank you for answering these questions, reassure them we only seek to be sure we find you the right coverage before they’re involved in a loss.
